In the meantime,
Here are a few things to share:
Two new girls to add to the only two
old gals who survived the attack last year...
a couple weeks old here.
The Blue Laced Red Wyndotte on the left,
now four and a half months, Hermione
(yes, Potter head)and to her right, the ever special
Lite Brahma, Chickie Gaga!
Miss Chickie Gaga has some serious attitude..
and when she stands upright will blow you away
with her magnificent size! Fits her image!
Three new babies arrived five weeks later
How amazing are her eyes!
This is three day old Princess Buttercup,
a Gold Laced Cochin
And this is the Princess at three months old!
She'll have big bloomers!
And this beauty is a Dark Brahma, also 13 wks,
her name is Gilda (yes, Radner head!)
Will have to keep you in the loop as they get older and more pronounced on their markings...these are all known for their coloring and size...all big fluffy gals, with exception to Hermione.
So, next to chickens, my latest obsession of last year became Bearded Iris'...I bought a couple and built a long bed for them and waited...and while I waited I started looking on line to see what other colors there might be...holy crap!! I had NO idea how insanely abundant, mulit colored, and amazing these flowers could be. I searched for hours, building my catalog, picking colors that would go one to the other perfectly...it was a standing joke around here...June's Iris'...that's all I could think about. So I bought and planted and waited...unfortunately, most of them did not open this season, but the ones that did were spectacular. Will get better at this, I love them too much (and of course now that iris season is over I'm on to my number one obsession...Vintage Christmas ornaments...it's actually worse than the iris time on the internet...if that's humanly possible. I used to wait until December, but last year I thought about it in August...and now I just look all the time..!
These are some of my new Iris blooms from this past spring...ps. going to begin selling rhizomes on ebay!

So, it's nice to be back...I've missed the community here...will keep in touch better, now that things appear to be stabilizing...ha ha ha..as if THAT could ever happen around here! Either way, I'll do better. Have some shots of the garden veggies...and piles of nice grapes coming up...jams, all that good stuff. Thought I'd piece it out instead of hitting you with everything at once...mucho love to my Besties...hope all are having a tremendous summer thus far! Enjoy! xo juners

Today is the two year anniversary of my father in laws passing...Julius Schneider...which is hard to grasp, time really moves fast. He treated me like a real daughter..he told me I was no longer a Pace, I was a Schneider now..and I loved him with all my heart. He was 95, almost 96, and he was living with us the last few months of his life..it was an honor to take care of him. The day he left I was sitting next to him waiting for the coroner to arrive and I thought, Oh my, I should take his hearing aids out and realized he still had his watch on...he NEVER took his watch off, even to bathe...so I quickly unlatched it and put it on my wrist so I wouldn't misplace it..it's still on my wrist today. He bought season tickets to the Oakland A's so we could go together and it became "our time" for three years...He spent holidays with us and whenever I would call and say, Dad plan to come stay for a few days, he would simply say, "Okay, see you in a bit" and that was that...until he moved to the retirement village, then he would say, "Can't do it this week, got a HoDown to go to!"..he was happy in the end. My husband lost his best and closest friend that day. Ray took amazing care of his father in the last few months. He bathed him and dressed him every day...it was precious to witness the love between them...I will forever miss him with all my heart...to Julius!

In case you were not here..which is really sad...I just gave one of the best parties I've ever had, bar none! It was probably the best party of our life in this home, save for our wedding of course...what a night!! Friends came to celebrate my best friend, who also happens to be my husband. He turns 65 this coming Wednesday, but we took advantage of the long weekend to have a semi-surprise party for him. All our kids were here, best friends, old friends, new friends and neighbors...it was just perfection! It began at seven and most guests left between one-thirty and two!! My girls and I danced until three, then we hung out in the den for a bit before everyone went to bed. Guitars, bongos and music, singalong for hours..amazing!...I was so wound up because I didn't sleep the night before, so I was beyond tired, but I put a little Sex and The City in my computer, laid in bed, and lulled myself to sleep at four-thirty, while my husband snored away. Woke up early the next day and went downstairs to begin the massive clean up...began coffee and a great breakfast...I had a very special silent moment when I peered through the window into the den and saw the kids all curled up under mounds of blankets sleeping...it truly touched my heart as I thought of the future and a time when that will not be happening anymore, as life moves on. So without further ado...my dear sweet Ray and his spectacular 65th birthday party...!! And yes, the Xmas tree was still up, until just a few moments ago...new post to follow!
In the end, it was just a lovely lovely evening...couldn't have asked for anything better, other than the few people who couldn't make it. The food was great, and I've been told the German Chocolate cake I made was life altering..!! Ha...in the meantime, I can't thank everyone enough for making this such a joyous and perfect occasion for my best best friend...Ray Schneider!! Thx to my besties who were present...xoxoxo always my love to you!
My daughter in law was totally into the music!
